We are very pleased to be able to offer this diminutive (200ml) traditional Chinese stoneware teapot. Made in the same region for more than 1,000 years, these fired, unglazed pots are wonderful for social tea drinking. Our Yixing teapots are made with form fitted-lids with vent holes which allow controlled pouring. A built in strainer keeps the tea leaves in the teapot. Available as a set with two matching teacups.
Using your Yixing Teapot
Because these teapots are unglazed, they will absorb tea flavor with every use. This is why an YiXing teapot is generally used with one type of tea (for example, black tea or oolong tea) only.
After the tea leaves are added to the teapot, the first brew of tea (often just a few seconds in duration) is usually used just to warm the pot and “clean” the tea leaves and rinse out the cups. This process activates the leaves and warms the teapot and the cups.
